Coursera: online and free formation about “Computing for Data Analysis” and more…

Coursera is a social company that works with the top universities in the world to offer courses online for anyone to take, for free.

In their vision they hope “to give everyone access to the world-class education that has so far been available only to a select few. We want to empower people with education that will improve their lives, the lives of their families, and the communities they live in”

They envision a future “where the top universities are educating not only thousands of students, but millions. Online and free formation enables the best professors to teach tens or hundreds of thousands of students”

Coursera works in partnership with 17 universities including Johns Hopkins, Berkeley, Princeton, Stanford…offering online formation in a wide range of topics: Humanities, Medicine, Biology, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Business, Computer Science….

On September 2012 you can attend online and free formation about “Computing for data analysis”. Course instructor is Roger D. Peng an associate professor of Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins

“This course is about learning the fundamental computing skills necessary for effective data analysis. You will learn to program in R and to use R for reading data, writing functions, making informative graphs, and applying modern statistical methods”
